Ingredients:

    1 cup rolled oats

    1 cup almond milk (this can be homemade)

    1 cup water

    2 tbsps chia seeds

    2 tbsps. cocoa powder

    1 tbsp coconut sugar, maple syrup, or honey

Toppings (optional):

  • unsweetened coconut
  • coconut milk
  • chopped almonds
  • dried cranberries
  • stevia

 Process:

  • • In a medium saucepan, heat water and almond milk to almost boiling point. Add oats and cocoa powder. Cook about 5 minutes until oats are softened but still have texture. There will still be some liquid left.
  • • Remove from heat, stir in chia seeds well, and cover with a lid. Let champorado stand 5 more minutes or until liquid is absorbed. Serve warm with additional desired toppings.
  • • Makes 2 servings.
